Djembe, Percussion from West Africa

Djembe, Percussion from West Africa

This is a great book by Ibro Konate and Sylvia Franke. 126 pages filled with rhythmic transcriptions, breaks, solos, and pictures. The 2 CDs and notations make it worth it alone.

Mali Weave

Mali Weave

Tuning Your Drum
I use two different variations of the mali weave. One crosses the rope over to form diamonds and the other crosses the rope under. The variation I use for Djembe’s is the Over method.
